“Lie down and relax now. We’ll send you the energy,” a woman’s voice came over the phone. She was speaking from California, all the way across the Pacific Ocean from Singapore.

Remedia and I did as she asked. We wanted very much to receive this empowerment to open our hearts to Love, the most powerful force in our Universe.

Soon a feeling of heaviness came over me. Very clear heaviness. Slowly the heaviness filled my entire aura, my whole being.

My normally erratic heartbeat slowed, steadied, deepened and pulsed much more powerfully. A fresh feeling of vitality arose in my fifty-four year old body.

We lay on our bed long after Karen and Barry, our California friends, broke the phone connection. We reveled in this new energy, wallowing in it, sucking it into every fiber of our being, absorbing as much of it as possible. We wanted intimacy. We wanted a complete knowing of the energy’s signature.

With a thorough understanding of the feel, of the vibration, of Divine Love, we knew we would be able to pass it on to others, just like Karen and Barry had given it to us.

It didn’t feel anything like what I’d expected Love to feel like. It was heavy. I’d thought Love should be light and airy. Its color was clear like water in a mountain stream. I’d thought Love should be golden, or maybe white with gold sparkles.
So much for expectations. They nearly always get in the way of reality.

That evening we met a friend for dinner in one of Little India’s side street restaurants that serve cheap but delicious food.
We had just come from receiving Deeksha. Deeksha is so light and subtle that it feels like nothing. It’s definitely not heavy. I was still trying to reconcile Divine Love’s heaviness with my expectations.

Our friend was miserable beneath his chatting about the food and energy work. His wife had recently moved out to live with another man. His emotional pain was coming to me clearly. I wanted very much to help him.

I said nothing. I simply sat enjoying the food and half listening to Remedia’s cheerful chattering and happy giggles and our friend’s polite conversation. I knew she was feeling his pain even more acutely than I was and sending him healing energy.

I began sending the heavy feeling to him, concentrating on filling his aura and chakras. I focused particularly on his heart chakra, using Divine Love to transform his heartbreak. As my mind sent the energy, I became aware of something growing in my own heart. I looked with my mind’s eye.

It was a ball of energy!

Large, open flowers began appearing on the ball’s surface. Their petals were shaped like rose petals but looked hard like crystal. The petals sparkled. Their colors were soft yet so bright that streaks of light radiated out from each petal. The colors were very different than the colors we have in this world. Indescribable. How do you describe color to a blind man?
Soon smaller flower balls appeared in my Third Eye and crown chakras. All powerful Divine Love radiated out from them and from the big flower ball in my heart. It spread throughout my entire being without agenda, motive or expectation. Divine Love was simply there for all around me to draw on and use as they pleased with no thought from me about what they should do with Love.

Then my mind’s eye saw flower balls appear in my friend’s heart, Third Eye and crown.
The empowerment I had received that morning hadn’t materialized fully in me until I shared it with another.
We must give Love freely to all before it can grow in us. The more Love we give, the more Love the Universe gives us.
